Our clients had been living in Jersey City but were expecting their second child and needed more space. During a weekend walk in Hoboken, they discovered the property and were drawn to its history and unique floor plan.

While the home met most of their practical needs including parking, full amenities, light, space, and ample ceiling height, it lacked the warmth and character they were hoping for. They wanted an elevated, yet approachable aesthetic that could be easily maintained and that would grow with their family. With thoughtful millwork additions, including custom wall and ceiling details, bespoke and vintage furnishings, we introduced the warmth and inviting layers the space had been missing, including two lovely outdoor terraces.

The goal included refining some of the quirky industrial features, to optimize the double height living area, improve function and storage with clever millwork solutions, and soften the ‘white box’ feel. We refreshed the existing kitchen with new hardware, lighting, art, accessories and furnished the two outdoor terraces to create a more inviting, indoor-outdoor living experience. Trusting us completely, they encouraged us to lean into warmer tones, which paired well with the loft-like space and lighter wood floors.  Most of the furnishings are custom or vintage, aligning perfectly with their vision.

The result is a home that is unique, warm, inviting, and functional. The clients’ decisiveness and trust made the process seamless, while extremely rewarding.
