When our Brooklyn based clients decided to explore a new setting, they were drawn to the light, water views and family-centric neighborhood of Rye. In its current state, it did not reflect their desired aesthetic, but they had a good feeling that it could be transformed. We initially focused our furnishings, but once we visited the site, we realized that updated some of the existing architectural details would be transformative. To save time and remain within budget, we preserved many of the original elements, including the existing entry wall paneling and the sitting room cabinetry, refreshing them with new paint, lighting and hardware. We decided to renovate both powder rooms, the mud room, and the home office, and include new ceiling details and millwork for the DR and Family Room. Updated mantles in the Primary Bedroom and the wife’s office proved to be game changers.
Our goal was to create a home that felt personal to the clients: sophisticated and elegant, yet approachable and family centric. The house already had wonderful light, and a great layout, so our goal was to craft an interior that complemented its strong bones and natural attributes. With thoughtful millwork, complementary palettes, a rich mix of materials, and carefully curated custom and vintage pieces, we transformed the spaces and struck the perfect balance. By softening and refining the interior architectural details and palette, we balanced the existing character with a fresh, cohesive aesthetic that was warm, grounded, and tailored to their family. Following the installation, our clients continued to notice new details – a testament to thoughtful design and our ultimate goal, to create a beautiful, functional home that fosters lasting memories.
